Band Ring

Is it strange to have a band style ring as an engagement ring?

I don't like rings that the stone sticks out too far, is it wierd to want a band with a few stones intead of the traditional ring? Like this: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=3182280
Also, I don't want anything expensive that I might lose. I would have a wedding band to go with it, but the wedding band would be plain, no stones or anything.

My hairdresser didn't want a solitaire that stuck out either, because she said she'd never be able to wear it, since she uses her hands so much. She got a band ring, but had a larger diamond channel set, so it was kind of like an engagement ring with a center stone, but was a single band ring like a wedding band.

Basically, it's your ring, you can do whatever you'd like with it. The important thing to remember is what the ring symbolizes, not what it looks like. If you like it, and you're comfortable with it, then that's really all that matters!
