Trillion Step
Sep/100
How much money has the Federal Reserve and the US Government created since the TARP program of 2008?
I know over 12 Trillion have been reported by Bloomberg as being created as a result of the various steps taken to "save" the economy as of March 2009, anyone have a more recent figure?
That $12T seems a bit exagerrated. The entire money supply never exceeded $9T. (http://www.federalreserve.gov/releases/h6/Current/ )
As far as the Fed's figures, you can look that up on their weekly balance sheet:
http://www.federalreserve.gov/Releases/H41/Current/ . You'll have to comb through the numbers. The biggest action was $971B for Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and Ginnie Mae.
As far as TARP goes: $700B was allocated and about $450B is outstanding. Geitner indicated he does not expect it to go over $500B
